Destination: Dusseldorf

It seems like April’s chugging along at a record pace, so you know what that means – May is just around the corner.  And with it, Doro’s two epic anniversary shows at CCD Halle in Dusseldorf, Germany.  Friday night, May 2, we’ll be playing alongside a full orchestra – I must say, I’m insanely excited for this – and Saturday night, May 3, we’ll be doing a full on rock show.  Both nights include an amazing amount of surprises and special guests and will be filmed for a future DVD release.  Also, I’m extremely happy to say that they will both be simulcast live on the internet as they happen, so that all our friends and fans around the world can join us on these two amazing nights.  For more info and to reserve your virtual tickets, CLICK HERE for the Orchestra Night and CLICK HERE for the Full Metal Show.

In other, equally exciting news, the new Earth Minor album is finally DONE!  After almost four years of dreaming, scheming, and concocting, I’m so proud of what we’ve put together.  There are a lot of very exciting things in process regarding this album, so it may take a little bit longer to reach your ears than previously expected, but trust me when I say, it will be worth your wait.

Hope Spring’s treating you well.  I can’t wait to get back to Germany, France, Spain, The UK, and beyond next month.  SEE YOU SOON, PLANET EARTH!  – HY

Solo Show Friday Night in NYC!

ImageI’m very excited to announce that I’ll be playing a special solo “after work” show this Friday night in NYC at Shrine’s new satellite club, Silvana. The first set at 6pm will contain music from all my worlds – Earth Minor, The HYQ, and maybe even a Doro song or two! The second set, at 7pm will be the live debut of the brand new Earth Minor album, which I will play unplugged in its entirety. Many of these songs have never been played live, so come be among the first wave of fans to hear brand new EM material before the rest of the world!

Falling Forward

On Tour with Doro, October, 2013

On Tour with Doro, October, 2013

Well, I’m less than 24 hours home from another great tour with the Metal Queen, Doro, celebrating her 30th Anniversary in rock across Europe, this time with some of our favorite fans in Germany, The Netherlands, and Czech Republic.  It was a quick one, only 7 shows, but each were unique and great and we want to thank you all for making us feel so at home while on the road.

I’m coming back to a lot of exciting things, personally and musically.  The first of which is an almost entirely finished brand new Earth Minor album which I’ll be making some major announcements about soon.  I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been up to, and I’m very happy to say that you’ll be able to hear it soon!

And also, I’m glad to have one final show booked this year on American soil before I take off with Doro again in December.  The Harrison Young Quartet will make our triumphant return to the beautiful Hat City Kitchen in NJ on Saturday, November 23 at 8pm.  Check out the shows page or for all the details.  We hope to see you there!

Ok – time to get offline and back into the studio to continue mixing the new EM stuff.  Talk to you soon and Happy Fall!  -HY

The Quiet After The Storm

With DORO Live at Alcatraz Festival, Belgium, August 2013

After an amazing Summer and year playing shows and festivals all over the world with Doro, I am finally home.  The memories I’ve made and experiences I’ve had this year are completely unparalleled in my life and I want to thank the entire Doro family for bringing me on such a wild ride.  From Europe, to Russia, to all the incredible festivals, and of course, Wacken, I can’t even believe what I’ve just been a part of.  I can’t wait to get back to it in October and beyond.

But for the time being, I’m very happy to be home in the US and setting my sights on some projects that have truly needed some love while I’ve been away.  Mainly, I’m very happy to announce that I am finally back at work on the new Earth Minor album, which is significantly closer to being finished than I’d realized, so you can look for a release some time in early 2014.

Stay up to date on the release at and at our Facebook page.  And stay tuned for lots of pictures and videos from my travels, coming soon to this site.

From Hamburg Harbor to Hat City Kitchen

Happy Spring and I hope this post finds you well.  Since last I typed and you read, I’ve been doing some pretty amazing things, namely a tour of Russia and Scandinavia with Doro followed by a week long run on the inaugural Full Metal Cruise, which culminated in one of the most insane experiences of my life.

This past Saturday night, I got to sing the official FMC cruise anthem alongside Doro in Germany at the Hamburg Harbor Celebration (Imagine NYC’s 4th of July fireworks if the event were designed by Hunter S. Thompson.)  There were hundreds of thousands of people watching from the shore as we pulled in, blasting 50,000 watts of rock and roll at them.  Truly a moment I will never forget.  Thank you to Doro, Hans Hoss, and the Full Metal Cruise for allowing me such an honor.  Check it out on YouTube here:

I’m back in the U.S. now for just 10 more days until I head back out to Europe for festivals, but in the meantime, I have one local New Jersey gig this Saturday night, May 18, at Hat City Kitchen.  I’ll be playing from 10pm to midnight with the Harrison Young Trio – jazz standards with a rock sensibility.  The show’s all ages and I’d love to see you there before I head out again next week.  Join up with the Facebook event here:

All the best for a great Spring and thanks, as always, for your support.  I wouldn’t be doing any of the stuff I do without it!
